Primer & Waxes
Primers & Waxes — the Finishing Touch That Makes All the Difference
Most people focus on the plaster itself, and the tools get a fair bit of attention too. But primers and waxes? They're the bit that gets skipped — and they really shouldn't be. Get your prep right with a proper primer and finish with the right wax, and your polished plaster will look the part and last. Skip them, and even the best plaster job can fall short.
Primer — Start Right
A good primer is what bonds your polished plaster to the substrate and gives you a consistent base to work on. Our primer is suitable for use with Venetian plaster, Marmorino and Lucidato, and it makes a noticeable difference to how the plaster goes on and how it holds over time. It's one of those things that experienced plasterers never skip.
Protective & Decorative Waxes for Polished Plaster
Once your plaster is applied and burnished, a finishing wax seals and protects the surface while enhancing the depth and sheen of the finish. We carry a range to suit different looks and applications — Natural Bee's Wax for a traditional matte finish, Decor Wax for a smooth protective coat, Pearlescent Wax if you want to add a subtle shimmer, and Spatula Wax for burnishing directly into the surface. Aqu Laq rounds out the range as a water-based lacquer sealer, ideal where extra durability is needed.
Not Sure Which Finish to Use?
It depends on your plaster and the look you're going for. Drop us a message and we'll point you in the right direction — we've used all of these products ourselves and can tell you straight which one suits your job.
