About The Polished Plaster Company

Italian plaster tradition. Practical specialist knowledge.

A beautifully finished wall begins long before the final burnish. It starts with choosing the right material, understanding the surface beneath it and knowing how each layer contributes to the result.

At The Polished Plaster Company, we specialise in polished plaster products, application tools and guidance for decorators, plasterers and renovators who want to create distinctive interiors.

Our story and specialist focus

Founded by Phil in 2005 and based in West Yorkshire, our business centres on the character and craft of Italian-style decorative plaster. From the natural movement of Marmorino to the reflective depth of Lucidato, these finishes offer something a flat painted surface cannot: texture, tonal variation and a changing relationship with light.

That is why our focus extends beyond supplying a tub of plaster. The material, the tools and the application technique all matter. Our range brings together specialist finishes and application tools, supported by detailed guidance to help you understand the process before work begins.

Technical detail that makes a difference

Good polished plaster work depends on preparation, control and timing. Our application guides explore the details that shape a finish: substrate preparation, priming, thin coats, trowel technique, the burnishing window and the final wax treatment.

We explain the differences between finishes so you can make an informed choice, rather than choosing on appearance alone. A high-gloss Lucidato surface and a softly textured Marmorino finish call for different expectations and techniques. Understanding those differences is part of planning a successful project.

Our application videos let you see the materials being worked, helping you connect written instructions with the movement, pressure and timing involved.

Confidence before you commit

Whether you are specifying a feature wall, planning a renovation or adding decorative finishes to your trade skills, we encourage you to explore the finish and its application before placing a larger order. A sample or practice board is a useful way to assess colour, movement and sheen, and to become familiar with how the material behaves.

We can help with product choice, samples and application guidance. Just as importantly, we recognise that polished plaster is not the right answer for every surface or setting. Choosing a suitable material comes first.
